This Fine Art Print is part of the new Modern Botanical Series, called Plant Forms by Jennifer Klemp.

Plant Forms started as minimalist drawings in a sketchbook early in the year, as an exercise in going back to the basics of drawing from life. However, this plant series is modern, minimalist, and as always, is created with attention to color theory. Line quality is important throughout.

Duality is a theme that has re-emerged from earlier works. The concept of 'Duality' was explored in a figurative series with that same name around circa 2007, and has presented itself in the 'Grid Series' more recently, and is now apparent in 'Plant Forms' as well.

When the artist first explored 'Duality' it was a literal interpretation, and the art work was inquiry of concepts such as 'having two sides', or painting two objects/humans/forms in the same way (is it possible?), and included inversions of subjects.

Without knowing about non-duality as a concept of Spirituality (known as "Advaita" in Sanskrit, meaning "not-two" or "one without a second") the artist has seen 'Duality' emerge through the art forms that are fusing more in this botanical series. The plant forms are connected, overlapping, or appear to be separate, yet the same. In terms of non-dualism, they are the representation that all is one, and that nothing is truly indivisible~

More on 'Duality':

As stated by Duality Expert Rupert Spira, "Duality is the belief that experience is divided into two essential ingredients: mind on the inside (this is where thoughts, feelings and images are made) and matter on the outside (this is where objects, others, and the world are made). The basic duality of mind and matter is the foundation of our world culture. What is meant by non-duality is that the distinction between mind and matter doesn't exist."

"Non-Duality refers to the recognition that what we essentially are behind this (what seems to be) multiplicity and diversity of objects and others, is this single indivisible reality. This is not an extraordinary experience that sages have access to, everyone has this experience on a regular basis.

In the non-dual understanding there is the recognition that underlying all the multiplicity and diversity of objects and selves is this single, indivisible shared being~and the religious name for that is Gods infinite being, or the ultimate reality of the universe, or the ultimate reality of the self. So, the inside self, and the outside world are one.
