ABOUT THE PIECE
Jennifer Klemp's Grid Series is inspired by the artist’s own internal inner searching and manifestation. Her recent work taps into the spiritual and introspective nature found within one’s self. Each piece is created laboriously, drop by drop, fusing traditional methods with abstract undertones. Attention to color theory is intentional, with bright punches of color found throughout.

A note from the Artist:
"Our true nature is peace. The concept of peace is represented by the large amounts of white throughout and the pale blue area which comprises a bold section above the main form in the print.
 
This drawing was I believe where the first breakthrough was officially made in this series. The manifestation is very different than the rest of the prints, yet you can see all of the elements in place.
 
The elements that are common throughout the series are grids, a rope element which usually contains a variation of the grid, abstract large swashes which are never pre-drawn, and a combination of abstract mark making in a designated area.
 
In this one, little grid areas in the corners balance everything out. This is the first time I made the rope element and it is not as developed in this drawing as it is in later versions. So, this one is very unique in the sense that it holds a brand new symbolic element which appears as if it will carry through the series.
 
With the drawing and colors being much more loose in this one, this drawing represents freedom from anything we feel bound by... and when there is freedom, there is also peace."
